Help me give my students an engaging opportunity to connect with stories in a whole new way by incorporating plush character dolls and hand puppets into our author studies such as Mo Willems and more!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help our young readers connect with stories in a whole new way by incorporating ebooks and plush character dolls into our author studies ro promote literacy and language skills. These tools will make reading fun, engaging, and interactive while fostering a love for literature and enhancing expression and comprehension skills Our class is a diverse group of eager learners who come from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are curious, creative, and full of energy. While some of them are already confident readers, others are just beginning to develop their skills. Despite their different levels, they share a common love for stories and storytelling. With the right tools, they can grow into lifelong readers and creative thinkers.
Author studies such as the Mo Willems series provide a deep dive into the works of beloved authors, helping students explore recurring themes, unique writing styles, and unforgettable characters.
To enhance this experience, I’m requesting plush dolls of popular book characters and hand puppets to bring these stories to life. These materials will encourage students to read in pairs, act out scenes, and immerse themselves in the world of their favorite books. By incorporating plush dolls and puppets students will boost reading comprehension through role-playing and dialogue It will allow the students to foster social-emotional learning as students collaborate with peers and inspire creativity and self-expression as students bring stories to life/ With these resources my students will develop deeper connections to literature by engaging with characters on a tangible level. They will build confidence in reading aloud and expressing emotions while strengthening, teamwork and communication skills through partner and group activities.
