This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I teach an amazing and creative group of students. They are so passionate about trying new things and pursuing skills that will give them a fighting chance to take life into their own hands. They strive for success, despite the adversity of their situations outside of school, and want to give back to others.
My Project
I have always had a vision of getting students out of the school building and enjoying learning outdoors. I am striving to make this vision a reality this year by starting MMS Grows: A Garden and Campus Beautification Project-based club. Students will get the opportunity to be a part of this club during the school day, with our new innovation hour program!
With your help, students will receive special equipment that will make all the difference in their gardening experience.
Gardening is a useful life skill to have and will benefit students' understanding of the cycle of food production. Not only is it resourceful, but it will boost students' confidence by allowing them to reap the benefits of their hard work, provide them with a safe place to make friends and learn new skills, teach them about recycling food waste and materials, and help them contribute to their campus and potentially classmates/families in need.
