Help me give my students different experiences to test reaction rates of chemicals.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The majority of my students are English language learners and come from immigrant families. They are from an economically disadvantaged area in Los Angeles County. Due to their economic hardships, many of them have to work and fulfill other responsibilities at home in order to help their families.
Nonetheless, they are eager learners who work hard to be leaders in their community.
They aim to be the first in their families to go to college and graduate despite their hardships.
My Project
I am requesting thermometers, reaction rate kits, and magnetic stir bars in order to encourage exploration of reaction rates in my classroom. In previous years, I have been using household items (e.g. vinegar and baking soda) to help students understand reaction rates, or I used the few chemicals I had for demonstrations instead of allowing students to do the lab work themselves.
If I had these items, my students would feel like actual scientists using real chemicals and laboratory equipment.
The reaction rate kits and supplementary laboratory equipment would give students the hands-on experience they need to be successful chemists.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
