Mixing Literacy and Play

Help me give my students some reading centers and some white board materials that will enhance their learning of sight words in a fun way.

My Students

My students are very smart and enjoy working on hands on concrete problems. They are very hardworking and striving to be the best Kindergarteners that they can be.

My students are enthusiastic about reading, and have an excitement to reading and discovering new things.

Every child in my class is incredibly important to the classroom and do their best to contribute in our classroom community. One of the best attributes that they have is that they are always welcoming and cheering each other on.

My Project

This project is all about enhancing self centered practice of sills that have been taught in class. These are some engaging centers that students will be able to practice reading skills, such as high frequency words and blending.

The centers I have chosen are engaging and exciting for students.

I feel that with these games my students will be able to engage in positive play and learn at the same time. Center time is a really important time for kindergarteners, because they are so young they need time to play,however since we are at school they also need to learn. Center games are a great balance that feed into both of these needs for a child the age of five.

My overall hope of these centers are for children to engage in healthy play while learning the reading skills they need to enhance their overall school career.
