This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Learning to cook offers students many benefits. They learn advanced concepts through hands-on practice with math and measurement. They practice teamwork by sharing brigade duties with other students including cooking and cleaning responsibilities. They expand their palates by trying new foods and building confidence in themselves. Culinary class offers my students real-life skills that they can put into practice every day of their lives. They learn skills that can help them feed themselves and their families in the future.
I would like a professional quality stand mixer for my culinary students to use.
Our class needs equipment for our kitchen. We have made it work with just the basics but having a stand mixer would allow the students to work on more complex recipes. They could whip eggs for meringues, make home made whipped cream and even make their own dough.
This will give my students the opportunity to complete more labs in our culinary classes. They can learn about different foods and cooking methods while putting their skills to use in class. Having this mixer will add to our class and help me continue to offer my students meaningful cooking experiences.
