My Project
All of our students want to grow their skills as artists. However, most of the students I serve do not have the funds to purchase sketchbooks. With your help I will be able to provide every student with a high-quality surface to create on. The mixed media sketchbook is a cornerstone of that growth, allowing them to experiment with materials, sketch and paint in a safe space that is completely their own.
The mixed media sketchbook plays a critical role in the art room.
It allows students to build their confidence as they explore mediums. It allows them to see their growth over time as well as gives the ability to work in the art room and anywhere their creative juices take them. The mixed media sketchbook is also used for them to reflect on the ideas as they create artwork that resonates with them. The use of the sketchbook as a journal and art making space encourages students to utilize their writing skills across the curriculum.
As an artist, the students need their confidence built. The mixed media sketchbook is the universal visible symbol that they are working artists, giving them a sense of pride in their ability to create.
