My Students

Although this will be my first year and I haven't personally met my students, I already know that they are eager to learn and to create. There has not been a steady art program for a few years and I am looking forward to building one. My students come from the Frankford section of Philadelphia. The school population is very diverse. We serve students from a variety of cultural backgrounds, with a variety of various needs. We have two Autistic support classes and an ESOL class, while also serving two-three home rooms of grades K-8.

My Project

My students come from very diverse backgrounds and from a wide variety of cultures. We need to strengthen our visual language skills so that we can learn to communicate and express our ideas fully, even if we may not speak the same language. It is my goal to create a classroom culture of understanding and by gaining greater visual communication skills, we will be able to do so. Through collage, painting, and the use of mixed media we will be able to create a wide variety of projects and learn a lot of new skills. Our creative possibilities are endless.
