Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Last year was my first time teaching 2nd grade, and it was an exciting, eye-opening experience. My students were full of energy, curiosity, and a strong desire to learn. They thrived on structure and routine, and I quickly saw how important organization and time management were to our success in the classroom. While the year was full of memorable moments, it also came with challenges—especially when it came to managing materials and transitioning smoothly between subjects.
This project would provide my classroom with book bins, five-subject spiral notebooks, and a class set of telescoping binder with dividers.
These tools will help create a more organized and efficient learning environment. During my first year in 2nd grade, I realized how much instructional time was lost as students searched for misplaced notebooks, folders, or binders. What should have been quick transitions often turned into minutes of wasted time, which added up throughout the day. With clearly labeled bins and consolidated materials, I can ensure that students have a central location for everything they use daily—making routines more seamless and learning time more productive.
Having these materials will allow my students to stay focused and minimize distractions caused by disorganization. I believe this small investment will have a big impact on our daily classroom flow, leading to smoother transitions and more time spent on meaningful instruction.
