Mission: iPad 2016

My students need this iPad to help us continue to work outside of the classroom and expand into the worldwide scientific community!

My Students

I teach in an urban school with a diverse student population. Our school includes gifted, advanced, honors, traditional, and occupational educational programs. Our students are both hearing and deaf. It could be said that our school truly encompasses every denomination of every category out there.

It may be said that our students are so special because they are so diverse.

I am proud to be a graduate of our incredible school, which only makes we want to work harder. Our population is made up of students who come from a truly diverse background; some parents work for FedEx and St Jude, and others are working 2-3 jobs just trying to keep everything together.

In our school we have students who work after school jobs and some who do not. Everything we do is about coming together as Spartans. That is something I am always proud of. It doesn't matter what the students are doing; they tend to come together well to support each other.

My Project

I have had an ongoing project to build a classroom supply of iPads for my students. As a science teacher, I know that my field is forever changing and creating avenues for my students to access that change, is important to their growth and learning.

My students need more ways to engage and learn, this iPad will give them access to the world outside of the classroom.

I'm excited about them developing new ways of learning and growing. These students will have the opportunity to experience so many new and exciting parts of the world of science and use it in our classroom to learn.

Students will learn how to access current scientific research and use it to apply it to what they already know about cells and other biological topics. Along with other iPads in the classroom, this will allow my students to begin to engage with scientists outside of our classroom, as well as, use the iPads in groups for cooperative learning activities.
