Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I am incredibly proud of my students for their curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning. They are always eager to take on new challenges and explore innovative solutions.
What makes my students special is their unwavering determination and ability to think outside the box; they are not afraid to experiment and learn from their mistakes, which makes them exceptional young scientists and engineers.
This project, the NASA-inspired 5E Design Challenge on Impact Minimization, will provide them with a unique opportunity to apply their knowledge of physics and engineering in a hands-on, collaborative environment.
The specific items we request—bubble wrap, masking tape, scotch tape, foam sculpting blocks, and cotton balls—will be crucial in helping my students design and build practical reentry modules. Bubble wrap and foam sculpting blocks will be cushioning materials to absorb impact, while masking and scotch tape will secure their constructions. Cotton balls will add an extra layer of protection and help distribute the force of impact more evenly.
My goals for this project are to enhance my students’ understanding of impact minimization and to develop their problem-solving and teamwork skills. By working together to create and test their designs, they will learn the importance of iteration and resilience in facing challenges.
Your support in providing these materials will empower them to reach new heights and inspire them to continue pursuing their passions in STEM. Thank you for helping us make this project a reality!
