Missing Science Materials For Experiment Makes Madness

My students need an early simple machine kit; a primary measuring kit; a balance beam scale with weights; a beaker set; life cycle of a frog, butterfly, and plant kit; four grow a frog sets; a life cycle of a butterfly book and a 101 silly science songs and poem book.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Geraci's classroom raised $747

I'm a lead teacher in an urban Charter School. I have been teaching third grade for five years, and this year I'm teaching fourth grade. I never realized that the two grades could be so different. Fourth graders do a lot more hands on in Science experiments than my third graders did. My school services a lot of students who come from not so fortunate homes, so for most students coming to school is their escape from their home lives. To them school is where everything is safe and learning is fun. It sounds exciting, but it's a challenge because of the limited supplies.

Hands-on practice in Science is very important. Before we start a new lesson we do an experiment that give the students an idea of what the lesson will be about. All of the experiments are fun and exciting to do, but when you don’t have the materials you need you cant be successful.

This is why I'm asking for help. My students will benefit so much from seeing the experiments done and then learning the information. Seeing the frog grow and go through its life cycle would be an awesome experience. One that most of my student will never get to experience, if it’s not done in school. Working with a microscope, which some of my students have never seen or used will also be beneficial for them to be able to see microscopic thing, up close. Using a balance bean scale while teaching volume and mass can make it easier for the students to understand the different ways to find how much something weights.

Please consider funding this great project for my students. This will truly help them be more successful as learners and to remember their experience for ever. Your donation will help empower my student and provide them with supplies they need in order to be successful learners.
