I am the proud teacher of 20 second grade students in a San Francisco Unified school. The school and district are short on money for basic supplies, SUCH AS STAPLERS! The class has one worn out stapler on its very last leg. It is about 20 years old. I would like to have 3 more staplers in the class to provide more opportunities for book making, class and homework preparation, bulletin board upkeep, art projects, etc.
This may be a very simple request, but it will go a long way in the classroom. Making 20 people wait in line to use the 1 and only stapler is a waste of learning time. Because of the age of the current stapler, it is not always functioning properly. This leaves the students without any ability to create, organize, and display their work. By adding something so simple to our classroom, you can be giving the students opportunity, creativity and pride.
