My students need a set of Gail Gibbons Science Read-Along books for the Listening Center!
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Gilbert's classroom raised $279
This project is fully funded
My Students
Kids LOVE learning about science! I still remember going home after school and being so excited to share something new I learned in a book that day! Do you? My first graders really love it when that "something new" is SCIENCE!
The majority of my students come from low income families.
Almost 70% qualify for free or reduced lunch and some are even homeless. Most students come to school with a limited vocabulary, very few positive life experiences, and little background knowledge about most science topics.
My Project
Gail Gibbons writes amazing nonfiction books with rich science vocabulary. Her books quickly capture a first grader's attention. Adding a collection of Gail Gibbons read-along books to our Listening Center Library will expose my students to science vocabulary and increase their reading fluency because they will be able to follow along in the book while it is being read to them on CD.
Your support with this project will help first graders love science even more by putting nonfiction science books and CDs in their hands.
More importantly you will be helping me put a love of learning in their heart!
