My Students

Everyday my students are introduced to new and exciting art projects. They work so hard throughout the year gaining more skills and working on expanding their art knowledge. I want to be able to give my students the gift of technology so they can access learning in many different ways.

For the last five years, I have taught at a low income, urban elementary school.

During these past five years I have had some of the most amazing memories with the students I teach. Simply put, they are amazing and inspire me to be a better art teacher everyday.

My Project

My students will use the iPad for researching artists, looking up ideas for their next projects and for gaining better drawing skills. They will use the Osmo program to be able to look up images from the Internet and the Osmo program will translate those images into step-by-step drawings. They will also use the Tangrams piece of the program to develop problem-solving and logical thinking skills, perceptual reasoning (nonverbal thinking skills), visual-spatial awareness, creativity and many mathematical concepts such as congruency, symmetry, area, perimeter, and geometry.

This project will make a difference in my classroom because it will be another choice my students can make during their art time.

They will use this technology and program to develop skills they could not have gained otherwise.
