Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom motto is "We can do Anything." I chose this because my class full of special ed students is already used to being told no. I want to teach them to believe in themselves and always be reaching for the stars.

I teach a class of special education students in an overwhelmingly poor district.

It is my job to motivate my students for more and not to let where they live be all they see. My students amaze and inspire me every single day. My students have a range of disabilities from specific learning disability to autism. None of them learn the same way nor are they learning the same material. My students, many of whom are english learners, require specific instruction so that they can learn. I have students whose only goal is to learn how to read. Other students love math. Daily they ask me for more work and try their very hardest when everything around them could push them down.

My Project

The materials I have requested will help me run an organized classroom where I am able to predict to prevent. I requested privacy partitions to help my students focus on what they are doing instead of what the other students are doing. The inflatable wedge seats will allow my students to get additional sensory input that will allow them to stay on task. I requested a behavior management chart and signs so that I could use it to remind students when their behavior does not match the expectation nonverbally. I requested cases for my iPad minis because it will allow my students to use the iPads I already have safely and for more activities. I requested standards pocket charts to inform my students why they are learning what they are learning. Finally I requested heavy duty pocket charts to keep vocabulary and sight words front and center with my students each day.

The materials I requested will allow my to have the best classroom I could have.

It will give me the opportunity to arrange my classroom to support learning and maximize student growth. I want this year to be the best year it can be and these materials will help my students succeed.
