Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Students from my school come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The majority of them are two to three grade levels behind in reading, writing, and mathematics and have struggled to catch up since middle school.
They come to my school hoping to become lawyers so that they can make a difference in the world around them.
In essence, they want to become contributing members of society, not just functioning ones. They want to learn and just need a little more support to make them better contenders in a competitive world.
My Project
Now that all students have a device, they need a printer. With all students returning to in-person learning in the Fall, we would love to have a classroom printer to print and display student work. Having a classroom printer would also give us teachers the opportunity to print out extra worksheets when students misplace them or make a mistake and want to reprint their work before displaying it. Students, especially struggling learners, love handouts and the biggest frustration for teachers is not making them, but finding a place to print them and, of course, photocopy them. Having a printer would make learning easier for all!
