My Project

Hello everyone and thank you for taking the time to look over my DonorsChoose project. I am seeking funding to improve the resources in the classroom for fifth-grade students. I would love for all students to have access to a variety of diverse books and have a plethora of options to choose a book that interests them.

When students see a book that piques their interest, it promotes engagement in reading that much more!

Access to these types of books would help foster a love of reading and help improve their educational outcomes immensely. This grant proposal hopes to provide these resources for students to come!

Project Goals:

1. Increase student access to books.

2. Establish a dedicated library space in the classroom for them to be comfortable reading what they love.

3. Promote literacy skills through their reading- independent reading enhancing all literacy elements

The students are growing older as they reach 5th grade and are loving reading more and more! Please help them branch out their learning to love new genres, broaden their knowledge on new topics, and explore their creative minds by providing options of books to choose from!

The students can benefit from having exposure to diverse characters and cultures. Preparing students for a world outside of their norms and creating a sense of understanding for others in their community can only help them grow socially, emotionally, and empathetically and create well-rounded individuals.

Many of the books listed here can help provide new insights to many children. There are also several books listed that are written in Spanish to help many ELL students. These can also help students learn Spanish if their first language is English. There is much to learn for all students and hopefully this is how we start!
