This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you know how important basic supplies are for a classroom to run smoothly? A portable chart stand will make it easier for all my students to access resources. It will make our calendar and small group time even better. A colorful rug for our reading area will create a warm environment.

I have first-grade students who come to school very eager to learn.

They are very excited to learn about the world they live in. They live in an area in Northern California that is stricken with poverty. The students at my school receives 100% free lunch. My students deserve to have access to the same resources as other students regardless of their families financial situations. My students are very hard workers. Their families love them and want them to work hard and succeed in school.

My Project

I have a reading corner in my classroom that currently has a brown carpet, that I picked up from a thrift shop a few years ago. I would like for my students to have a new colorful rug for their reading area. I am also requesting a large chart stand to use in the classroom. This will be used to hold the class calendar, which currently takes up a lot of board space. I am also asking for pencils which often seem to be in short supply at my school. And, I am asking for laminate refills. I will laminate various resources for them to use throughout the year.

These donations will improve my classroom, because they will help it function smoother.

It is very important to have the right tools in the classroom. I do not have the luxury of handing out "wish lists" at the beginning of the school year, and am very grateful for your generosity.
