My Project

The COVID pandemic took a huge toll on student's reading abilities. Many of my students did not continue reading during their remote learning experiences because they were tasked with taking care of their families. Some were working through family health struggles and mental health struggles, and some did not have access to high-quality texts when they were not in school. I would like to encourage my students to fall in love with reading again. One way to do this is through graphic novels. They are high-interest books that read like comic books, but often tackle important social issues that my students are interested in. Also, it is important that all students see aspects of their own lives in what they read. These are called "mirror books." I tried to select a variety of texts that represent all kinds of people. Please help me achieve my goal!
