Help me give my students great young adult books like The Astonishing Color of After and Refugee that are a reflection of them, and bookcases to make these books accessible.

My Students
My students come for all over Jefferson County. We have almost 2100 students in a building made for 1500 students. Over half of our student body comes from low-income households. My students need to see books that reflect them, their culture and the world outside of theirs. Students are more likely to read if they can "see me" in the novels. Reading can open up new worlds for kids.
Help my students expand their world and see themselves through young adult novels.
My classroom needs high-interest young adult novels to hook students to become lifelong readers.
My Project
We need books by diverse authors like Jason Reynolds and Benjamin Alire Sáenz, who is a master at capturing the authentic voice of teenage boys. These are the kind of authors the students beg to read. How do you get students reading? Have high-interest books for them to read. Help me have these books available to my deserving students.

My students need to get off the screens and explore the world through reading. Reading is a life skill that will serve them always and anywhere life takes them. Help me inspire tomorrow's leaders.
