My students need iPads with cases to use daily. In this growing world of technology I would like to begin to get my first graders prepared for the research and typing skills needed to be successful!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is full of fun energetic first graders! They were born knowing how to work a computer or tablet better then me. So you can understand how disappointed they are going to be when they arrive to school this year and see that all the classroom computers have been removed and are not being replaced.
As a teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the many challenges they face, they come to school each and every day eager to learn and do their best. But how can I do my best when I do not have access to the needed materials? How can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary technology to meet the demands of their 21st century brains?
My Project
These iPads will be crucial to our daily routine. Each day every student can rotate through a variety of apps to reinforce their phonemic awareness and 21st century math skills. The IiPads will allow the students to receive hands on real world application of common core skills.
I also plan on using them to introduce the art of research and reports.
All these tasks will make for successful future scholars.
The access to the internet is something that has been taken from them. Our school's old dinosaur computers were finally removed from the classrooms. This is a good thing because most of them did not work properly in the first place, however they are not being replaced. My students will be thrilled to see that they can use these iPads every day in their classroom!
