This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are coming back to school for the first time in two years and are still trying to get used to not having the freedom to move around as they learn that they did when they were at home. There's also a lot of anxiety that comes with being surrounded by people, in crowded hallways, unable to really move in your space because you are confined to a desk. Many are still trying to figure out what their best movements will be as to not get into the space of another student and wish to be more hands on in their learning. However, we are unable to make this happen as much as we would like to because of COVID safety.

My students are looking for an outlet to help adjust to them coming back into the building and around all of their peers for the first time in two years.

My Project

With these materials, my students will feel free with smaller movements in their seats, rather than feeling confined to them and aching to move around more in the classroom. Their attention will be on the lesson at hand because they will be utilizing the fidget toys and the bouncy bands to get the right level of stimulation and activity while they are socially distanced in their desks.

These fidget toys and the bouncy bands are tools that they have in other classes that I know from their teachers they appreciate and utilize to the fullest extent, so I want to do everything in my power to do the same for them in my class.
