This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a STEM specials teacher in a Title 1 school that works with all students in our building. I work with a range of diverse students in all grade levels. There are approximately 55 students in grades 1-5, with approximately 70 in kindergarten, and 40 in sixth grade.
The students at my school are ambitious, creative, and always eager to learn something new in the field of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
My Project
Our school is working to develop 21st century skills in our students. Through creativity, curiosity, and exploration, we are able to help our students achieve these necessary skills for their education and future careers.
Hydroponic gardening can emphasize the importance of 21st century skills, and several scientific disciplines.
By adding a miniature hydroponic garden to our STEM lab, we will be able to discuss topics like the life cycle, healthy eating, and how plants can get nutrients without the use of soil. It also provides opportunity for students to explore the natural world around them any time of year.
