This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from the outskirts of a larger city. We are a community within a city and it makes for a much more close-knit school. Our school is host to mostly rural students with more than 50% receiving free or reduced-price lunch.

My kindergarten students are stepping into a whole new world this year for education.

Kindergarten needs to be fun this year because with all the changes we are facing I want students to understand school is safe, a refuge when needed, and a portal to becoming what you want in the crazy world we live in today. Kindergarten is where change happens, minds grow and kids transform into students. I truly love these future leaders and community changers, who are my minifigures of the future.

My Project

"Can we go outside to play today?" Due to the crazy weather patterns of our Michigan area, I hear this question daily and I would love to flip the script on my students! With the use of an accurate weather station in our school I can do just that! We will use the weather station in our school to help support and expand calendar time. Not only myself but all the teachers in our building will be able to pull up (online version) or go to the console to find the answer to the question, "can we go outside today?"

In addition to calendar time in the classroom, we will use the weather station throughout the district to graph and analyze weather patterns in our high school science classes, do hands on projects in our summer school and even incorporate the station into our STEM Specials Curriculum.
