Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My classroom is a happy and busy combo of TK and kindergarteners. Though they are only between the ages of four and six, these students have big ideas about our world. They are motivated, capable, curious, and love learning.
They like to move, read, play, and love lots of positive attention.
From the moment they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue to question the world around them and become empowered in their own voice to make a difference in the community.
My Project
Math can be a challenging subject and can often seem abstract to our youngest learners. However, by engaging with various manipulatives, activities, and puzzles, students will be engaged and better supported to build concrete mathematics skills and knowledge. These materials will help with the concepts of: patterns, shapes, addition, subtraction, number sense, and so much more. We will use these materials for lessons, independent work, and small group centers.
When math time is fun, hands-on, and engaging, my students learn better!
Hands-on learning and repetition help my students gain the concepts that they need for more complicated math concepts later on in their educational careers. By building math concepts into everyday play, students will hopefully see themselves as mathematicians! Please help me make math more engaging, so my students can have better confidence in themselves and their STEM learning!
