Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach the most wonderful bunch of first graders! They are inquisitive, bright, and very motivated to learn. We have many goals for them in the 10 months they are with us. Not just basic skills like reading and writing, we want to encourage them to be creative as well.
Every student has a masterpiece inside them.
Art is a fun way to allow students to show what they have learned. Students learn in different ways and a student who may be shy and not participate will flourish when you put a paintbrush in their hand. It doesn't matter what language they speak at home, art is a way to express themselves without needing words.
We would like to plan multiple art projects for our students to complete. They will paint portraits and use construction paper to make collages. They will paint backdrops for plays and make puppets of themselves. There are so many possibilities when we have the right supplies.
