My Project
Every child has a big, beautiful imagination. This imagination guides them to create, build, design, and share their ideas.
What if you could help a child bring their imagination to life?
In my classroom, we create using code, blocks, and even robots. This type of building could be nurtured and enhanced earlier through the use of a maker space. The maker space can include LEGO, pegs, and color coded building. The maker space I hope to bring to my classroom will include all of this and more!
We use a form of coding called Blockly, and the kids quickly learn the concept of building algorithms, or lists of instructions for a computer to follow. This can be a bit confusing for students who do not yet read; to take the place of words in the beginning, I use picture instructions! Kids follow the pictures to build LEGO sets, create letters and numbers with blocks, and use golf tees, or pegs, to make designs that imitate the photos.
With the items in this project, I hope to create a space in my classroom specifically for this type of physical coding and creation!
