This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Learning basic math skills is the cornerstone to greater math understanding. Learning these skills can be difficult and often boring and repetitious for the student. Teaching these skills using new, fresh, and fun technology is the key to successful math skills.

Our school is in a low income area located in Northern California within Silicon Valley that struggles to receive funding for basic school supplies and material.

Technology is common and surrounds our area, however to many of our students technology and its uses in education are unfamiliar and the unlimited resources it provides to enhance learning are unimaginable. My goal as their teacher is to provide my students with the best resources and every opportunity to enhance and motivate their academic goals and successes. The limited technology that I have been able to introduce into my classroom has proven to benefit, motivate and excite my students to learn and better prepare them for a successful future.

My Project

The iPad Mini is a maximum resource for math skills enhancement and enrichment while making learning fun. The numerous math applications that are available can be individualized for all learning levels and abilities. The student who needs to improve his multiplication factors can practice in ways that are fun and challenging, not even realizing that he is reinforcing his math skills. For the student that wants to be challenged, the iPad Mini has applications that can introduce the student to new math concepts while making the process fun and challenging and encouraging expansion of their personal math knowledge. The iPad Mini makes learning math fun and engaging while meeting the individual needs of each student's learning ability. As technology advances, so will the applications for the Mini. As an ever growing resource for learning, students will never be bored. The iPad Mini is the perfect tool to reinforce what is being taught in class.

Understanding basic concepts of math is a lifelong skill that students will need no matter where their future takes them.

Learning math must be challenging, interesting, and fun. Repetition is necessary and fundamental in learning these skills. Making the learning process fun, challenging and individualized for students enhances their learning process. A resource or tool that assists the teacher with the everyday teaching of math is beneficial and important and the iPad Mini is that tool!
