My students need a new tank, magnifying glasses, visual aids to supplement our life cycle units, and a real life butterfly nursery!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Washam's classroom raised $465

My Students
Our fish tank is leaking!!! Our current fish are struggling in the current tank and need a new home! My kindergarten students are curious about their environment and want to learn more about life cycles of plants and animals, but need the materials!
My students attend a K-8 turnaround school in Philadelphia with high poverty and high crime rate.
Yet, my students are positive, resilient people who are on the path to college! Our room has become a close knit community where students are thoughtful and support one another. Our class is an inclusive kindergarten program with strong focus on math and reading skills, with a mission to close the achievement gap before it grows.
My Project
My students need to have a hands on view of the life cycle for frogs and butterflies. Additionally, they need visual aids to reinforce vocabulary and get ready for our trip in the spring! My students learn best when they are doing, and getting to observe and document the growth and changes of real animals would be fantastic!
I want my students to become critical thinkers who are inspired by their environments.
I want them to be curious, thoughtful, and ask questions for a deeper understanding. Having magnifying lenses, visual aids, and real life materials would really help that!
