Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Look around my classroom you will see an amazing diversity of ethnic groups and economic backgrounds. Despite their diversity, there is one quality that all my students share. That is regardless of their background, they come to my class motivated and excited to learn new ideas and concepts.
They have a natural desire to build and create especially in the area of technology.
The magnet that we belong to is an Arts and Technology magnet so there is a special interest in both of these subjects. This is evident in the look of excitement on their faces at any time they have the opportunity to see and learn about anything new in technology.
It is my hope to make this a more "tangible" experience for them.
My Project
With this kit, students will be able to use their Lego Mindstorm robot to participate in challenges and learning missions based around the theme of space. These research projects, co-developed with space experts, provide rich opportunities for students to explore and create innovative solutions related to current space exploration topics. The possibilities are endless.
Students are only restricted by how far their imagination will take them.
Paired with an iPad, tablet or computer, the students will be able to program and code their robot to perform specific tasks and complete these space themed exploration challenges.
The set includes three learning mats, a challenge mat, dual lock tape, and all of the LEGO elements required to build the challenge models. The accompanying digital content provides student-ready materials, teacher notes, and building instructions.
More than half of students from low‑income households
