Minds-on Math: Games and Manipulatives for Mastery

Help me give my students support in deepening their math skills through interactive manipulatives and games that turn challenging concepts into exciting, hands-on learning experiences.

My Project

My 6th grade scholars are resilient, thoughtful, and inquisitive. Every day, they come to class ready to take on new challenges and grow. Despite the odds, they continue to show up and push themselves academically, taking charge of their learning and changing the trajectory of their lives through education.

They inspire me to be the best teacher I can be—to create lessons that are engaging, rigorous, and empowering.

They are not afraid to take academic risks, ask questions, or think critically. What they need now are more opportunities to apply math skills through hands-on learning that’s both meaningful and fun.

We are building a math classroom where scholars don’t just memorize formulas—they experience math. To support this, I’m requesting a variety of math manipulatives and educational games that will help students make sense of complex concepts through real-world application and play-based learning.

With these materials, my scholars will work collaboratively in small groups, applying math skills in dynamic ways outside of traditional pencil-and-paper tasks. Whether they're practicing fractions through a game, using number lines to visualize integers, or solving word problems with hands-on tools, these manipulatives will give them a chance to learn by doing.

These resources will support scholars at all levels, allowing for differentiated instruction and giving every learner the opportunity to feel confident in their mathematical thinking.
