My Students
OES is a Title I school. I work with a variety of students ranging from special education students with significant emotional/behavioral needs to general education students who require additional social/emotional support to best access their education. Ages of students supported also range from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Social, emotional, and behavior needs are addressed on an individual basis. This requires a large range of counseling tools in my tool box to make sure that the best skills are targeted for each student.
My Project
Mindfulness strategies are incredibly useful for students who need to learn how to self-regulate. I am seeking funding for tools that can be used during in-school counseling and for behavioral interventions. Please help provide high risk students additional tools for them to be successful at school!
One form of mindfulness that will help students is yoga and meditation.
The yoga mat and meditation chair will provide students with a designated area in the counseling office to practice mindfulness skills. The remainder of the items will assist with various mindfulness actives. Please help my students learn to stay calm and grounded when unexpected and uncomfortable situations take place in their lives!
