Help me give my students some SEL activities to welcome them back and show them they matter with fruit snacks, sensory play doh and interactive emotion bags.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Especially with ninth graders, students need a chance to feel welcome and validated. These resources like play dough and bean bags will remind them to ease into the year and encourage them to work with their peers.
Since a student’s feelings influence their engagement, I want to make sure that everyone feels welcome and that they belong.
I hope to create some activities that are engaging and give the students a chance to experiment with their sensory learning. As a French teacher I can review objects like fruits or simple colors with these types of activities.
Lastly the book will allow me to explore new ways to teach and make my students feel comfortable.
