My Students
My students are at our alternative school for a variety of reasons. With our structured and nurturing environment, and with smaller class sizes and a better teacher to student ratio, we have built a school environment where our students succeed.
Our students are able to rewrite their school stories into narratives of enjoyment, success, and empowerment.
Our small class sizes give us the flexibility to build innovative school experiences and construct unique and creative lessons. We are only hindered by funding issues, as we currently have no PTA or the financial support that a PTA provides.
My Project
Having de-stressing tools and activities in the library has been helping my students manage school this year. This project contains more ways for me to create a mindful, restorative space for our students. Our library is a sanctuary for both students' reading lives and mental health!
Using puzzles, stacking blocks, and magnetic poetry offers valuable and quick mind breaks and resets for our students.
These resets are so key for our students' school success and their social, emotional health. We're also looking for additional tools for our 3D printer to expand our MAKER and STEAM activities.
