I need to respond to the challenges of today's stressful environment on young children. I would like to learn how to incorporate yoga in my early childhood classroom by taking a "Radiant Child Yoga" course.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have been an early childhood teacher in a city school in Illinois for over seventeen years. My students live in low-income households from a beautifully diverse area of Chicago. Hispanic, African-American, and Arab families send their children to our school.
My classroom is filled with students who are alive with curiosity.
I try to respond by providing opportunities to explore and discover new ideas in reading, math, science, and social studies. My students have also shown me the importance of social emotional learning. Without a secure, safe environment, they can not take risks and grow academically. One of the most gratifying experiences as a teacher is watching the students take ownership of their learning and become confident students at such a young age.
My Project
Teaching emotional regulation is a big part of the early childhood classroom. Brain research shows that memory is impacted by stress. Young children come into the classroom with worries and concerns from home. They then continue to experience a range of emotions while learning to cooperate with classmates and navigate the school day.
I would like to incorporate yoga, meditation, and breathe in my blended classroom.
By taking the Radiant Child Yoga levels 1-3 class, I feel I would gain the necessary skills to focus and calm my young students.
