Mindfulness for Middle Schoolers!

My Project

I am a school counselor at a Title I combined Elementary and Middle School in Bedford County, TN. The community I serve is considered a low-income area where all students receive complimentary breakfast and lunch. Because our resources are tight, school counselors are not included in the yearly Basic Education Program funds that are divided among our teachers. That is why funding by outside sources for projects like this are so important in my position!

Help me create a space for our middle school students to cope through Mindfulness practices!

Initially an elementary school, we will add a middle school grade to become a pre-k-8th grade school each year. So we need help ensuring our older students have the social and emotional resources they need at school to cope with issues that come up throughout their day! The folding chairs will serve as floor space for grounding exercises, the mandala has many therapeutic benefits, the dog to promote calmness, and the sensory sphere to engage all of the senses! These items will be used to complete a calm space in my office, give age-appropriate things for students to utilize, and help teach coping skills!
