Creating a space within the classroom where students can calm down, refocus, breathe, and foster mindfulness and emotional well-being is essential for promoting a positive and supportive learning environment. The addition of floor chairs, fidgets, an area rug, and a shelf to organize fidgets plays a significant role in creating this space.
Floor chairs provide students with a comfortable and flexible seating option, offering a more relaxed posture compared to traditional desks.
This flexibility allows students to disengage from the rigidity of the classroom setting and find a position that helps them feel at ease. By giving students the freedom to choose where and how they sit, they can better regulate their emotions and regain focus when they need a break.
Fidgets are particularly effective tools for students who may struggle with restlessness or anxiety. These small, tactile items allow students to engage in a quiet, repetitive activity that helps channel excess energy and promotes focus. By offering a range of fidget options, students can select what works best for them, allowing for individualized calming strategies.
The area rug serves as a dedicated space for relaxation and mindfulness activities. Whether it's for guided breathing exercises, mindfulness meditation, or simply taking a moment of quiet reflection, the rug creates a cozy, inviting area that encourages students to step away from the classroom’s hustle and bustle.
