This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Since the pandemic there has been a rise in emotional instability amongst our students. Our students have been experiencing high levels of anxiety and often just need a quiet mindfulness moment for themselves to reach a place of calm.
The sensory items will help to create mindfulness corners within or Kinder -5th grade classrooms.
When students are feeling anxious or stressed and need to have a quiet time out for themselves they can utilize the mindfulness corner. This will also help them to learn and practice on how to self-regulate their emotions. This will also provide a comforting place in the classroom without having the students having to leave the classroom to seek a place of calm.
