This year our scholars have developed a genuine love for all things yoga, mindfulness, and reading! We have incorporated Yoga Fridays and our little yogis are growing in their practices. I love watching our yogis work through challenging poses and then ease into relaxation in savasana. The sense of peace and calm that occurs when I lead guided visualizations during this part of our practice is beyond beautiful. It has been transformational to have these moments of calm for my scholars. They are so deserving of this sense of peace and tranquility in their often stress-filled lives. I watch them with such pride when they use their breathing strategies and yoga poses on their own to calm themselves down when they feel stressed. Our young yogis are in need of some more yoga mats and mindfulness resources to build up their coping skills during tough moments. All of these resources will be specifically for students and added to our Cool Down area.
My students also LOVE reading this year, but I have noticed quite a dip in our students' reading levels after a year of online learning.
So, to best support them, I would love an AMAZING bundle from Lakeshore with lots of foundational reading games to support these developing readers. Additionally, Teachers Pay Teachers is a wonderful website where I can purchase differentiated resources for specific readers based on their needs. I can send these digital resources to scholars directly and we can work through these activities together during small group instruction. We would use these incredible resources daily to engage a diverse group of young readers!
