Mindful Space & Stellar Minds: Tools for Calm and Curiosity
Help me give my students tools to support their mental health and curiosity with a calming space, solar system model, sensory tools, and secure storage for shared classroom resources.
My students are energetic, bright, and full of potential, but they often carry more emotional weight than children their age should. As a high school teacher in an urban public school, I see firsthand how mental health challenges, stress, and a lack of resources can impact their ability to focus, regulate emotions, and feel safe in the learning environment.
This project brings together tools to support their emotional well-being and intellectual growth.
The calming fidget toys and Play-Doh will help build a supportive sensory space where students can self-regulate during moments of overwhelm. The solar system model will spark wonder and curiosity in science lessons, and the large locking cabinet and rolling storage cart will allow us to securely and accessibly store shared mental health tools and academic resources.
These items, along with the classroom rug, will help us create a classroom that nurtures both mind and heart—something every student deserves.
