My Project

Life is hard. All of us deal with emotions, sometimes extreme, and our kids are still learning how to handle these big feelings. At times, things can become overwhelming for our young learners. I want to provide my students with a collection of tools they can use to take a mental break and practice mindfulness. I already have a few items, and these will be great additions to our room!

Take a break; it's okay!

I am asking for a few weighted plushies that my students can hold on to and become more grounded. I am asking for some stress relieving tools (balls, strips, fidgets) to give them something to manage the tension in their bodies and minds. When one of my students needs a break, they can visit our calm zone and use these tools to help them regulate their emotions. This will occupy them until I am able to approach them and have a discussion. I know that this topic can be a touchy subject, but I fully believe that this is important and will honor my students' feelings and provide them with calming strategies to deal with big emotions.
