My students are so amazing. I work with special education students and also the entire school benefits from the many projects that I create. We are a caring and compassionate school. We are currently in a blended learning environment. Some students are in school full time and others are learning from home.
Social emotional learning is so important at this time.
We are socially distant. We are separated in school due to distance rules and also in our homes learning remotely. We want to return to school. We want to be together with our friends and our teachers. We miss the school community.
My Project
These books will inspire young readers to better understand the emotions that they are feeling now. Creating the opportunity to learn about emotions and how to help cope with difficulties through kindness and mindfulness. I want to have a ready library of books that children can use during lunch time or recess. They can have access during morning lineup. Even develop a book club to have small group discussions on these books. Having not just the Occupational Therapist involved but also Teachers, Social Workers and Guidance counselors share with their students that a library just on Social Emotional Learning is available would greatly benefit my school.
