This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Curious, inquisitive and adventurous - that's what best describes my fifth-grade class. They are always eager to learn and share their creative ideas with others. Although they are talented writers, they are sometimes bored with the writing assignments and wish to have creative outlets of self-expression. This project will help them explore creative ways to enhance their work through visual art.
Let's get them excited about art and give them the tools to help them express themselves!
Since we are a federally designated Title I School in the heart of Miami, most of my students come from predominantly low-income homes, but they are eager to learn and express their uniqueness. Their lack of financial resources can mean that they lack art materials and resources at home to express themselves creatively.
Please help my students achieved beyond their neighborhood and provide them with the confidence, knowledge and the tools they need to succeed in our visually stimulating tech-savvy world. With your help, we can make sure they are able to see the beauty in everything, especially the power of learning through art.
My Project
Since fifth-grade can be stressful due to it being the last year of elementary and the fact that students participate in high-stakes standardized testing, the use of art in my classroom will enhance their creativity and mindfulness through self-expression. Using different art mediums will allow students to illustrate concepts in math, science, and meditation in unique individualized ways - thus embracing the topic and internalizing it.
Art will permit my students to express ideas, concepts, and emotions in a way that workbooks and worksheets cannot.
Many of my students come to school with limited supplies due to lack of funds. This project will help them explore their creativity through the use of markers, chalk, coloring pencils, cardstock, and other art mediums that they might not have available to them. I know my students will love to get their hands on with new art tools.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
