This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Most students are familiar with and love technology. They use electronic devices to communicate with each other and to distract themselves. Most students would agree that using technology in the classroom makes learning more fun and interesting. What a better way to teach students how to calm their brains and focus on their learning than with an iPad that they are familiar with and love.
When students experience stress, certain portions of their brain are inactivated and the part of the brain associated with fear and negative emotions takes over.
One of the ways to help reduce stress and anxiety at school is though mindfulness. Practicing mindfulness is linked to changes in many parts of the brain and parts in the brain can even even shrink or grow in response to mindfulness practice. When students learn about mindfulness and how their brains react to mindfulness, they are equipped with tools to build self-esteem, manage stress, and approach challenges. Having an iPad means that students will have access to the many mindfulness and mental health applications.
