My Project
My students work very hard in everything they do! My class is filled with diverse learners with many different disabilities. A few of the disabilities include autism, down syndrome, visual impairments and learning impairments. Students with disabilities have to work twice as hard (if not more) than the general education students. We try to make our classroom a comfortable and safe environment.
We rely on our "brain breaks" for students to refuel through dancing, singing, socializing and refueling their bodies.
These snacks will allow our students to eat more at school than they are able to eat at home. Their families may not be able to afford the extras. We ask for snack donations from families, but many are unable to help.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. The snacks will work as incentives to encourage them to work hard.
In school, we focus so much on academic success. Sure we work on academics, but we focus on so much more. In my class, we focus on creating a learning environment where they learn to celebrate all successes, big and small and where they feel loved and safe. We learn life skills that are essential for independence. We teach socialization, how to treat others and how to believe in themselves. This donation can made a big impact in their daily lives at school.
