Help me give my students books at their independent reading level to help boost reading comprehension skills and to promote a lifelong love of learning starting in middle school!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle schoolers come to school every day eager to learn, despite the fact many are facing challenges within the low-income neighborhood surrounding our school.
Our mission is to prepare students for 21st century life and careers.
Grounded in a program built upon excellence, equity and engagement, We encourage students to grow into trailblazers who are conscientious change agents for their communities and beyond. With a focus on the natural world and the interconnectedness of all living things, while engaging in learning that provides real world relevance and nurtures self-empowerment.
My Project
Within my classroom all students are encouraged to read at their guided reading level on a daily basis. What does this mean?
A guided text is easy enough for students independently to read while offering challenges and opportunities for problem solving.
With teacher assistance throughout the year, students focus on meaning but also use problem-solving strategies to figure out words they don't know, deal with difficult sentence structure, and understand concepts or ideas they have never before encountered in print.
I would like more leveled books in my library for offer student choice and encourage independent readers.Having more books in the classroom would help my students reach the next level!
