This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
As we recover from the effects of the COVID pandemic and virtual learning, I want to support the mental and emotional well-being of my students by participating in Breathe for Change's Digital Wellness, SEL, and Yoga training. This training teaches educators the foundations of yoga and mindfulness practices and prepares them to meet the social-emotional needs of young people and adults. Trainees receive mentorship from experienced yoga practitioners and educators to enhance their ability to facilitate social-emotional learning practices, teach yoga, and use wellness as a vehicle for healing and learning.
I want to help my students and my colleagues heal their minds and bodies so that we can strengthen our learning community as a whole.
By successfully completing this training, I will earn both a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Certification (CYT-200) and B4C Social-Emotional Learning Facilitator (SEL*F) Certification. As a result, I will be qualified to share mind-body wellness practices like yoga/mindful movement, mindfulness, and breathwork - and to promote self-care, social-emotional learning, and community-building strategies that positively impact our lives, classrooms, and schools.
