Milky Way Boundaries

My Students

This community has been greatly impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Our families have lived in tents on the property of the city's civic center, moved in with relatives, and stayed at local hotels. Prior to the storm, this was a low socioeconomic area. With the loss of housing and even some jobs, it has gotten even worse.

Through all of the setbacks, we have the best little school around.

Our students are smart and very eager to learn. They come to school daily with a willingness to become better students. There is a clear team with the parents as well. They are willing to do whatever it takes to help the students be successful.

My Project

Plate Tectonics is one of the most exciting concepts for 6th graders! They love the videos and illustrations of volcanos, fault lines, and even sink holes. But what they really enjoy is the ability to demonstrate the difference between divergent, convergent, and transform boundaries.

This project will allow each student to have a Milky Way candy bar to manipulate for each boundary concept.

We will also be able to contain the demonstration on the plates. In addition, each class will be able to keep our learning areas clean with the wipes and paper towels.
