My students are full of energy and eager to learn. We have only been doing inquiry-based science for a couple of years, and the students are loving it! They are enjoying the opportunity to explore learning on their own and draw their own conclusions.
My students come from a community where education is clearly valued.
While they want to learn and are eager to learn, they lack some of the resources needed to complete everyday tasks in the classroom.
Students in my school struggle with reading and writing and benefit most from hands-on experiences where they have to solve problems. Being able to incorporate technology into the science classroom has greatly helped my students.
My Project
Our students spend 30 minutes a day in an advisory class where we are learning how to socialize in a technological society. We are learning how to use our emotions appropriately and how to deal with the everyday pressures of middle school. The group I currently have are also leaders within the school as part of the seventh grade National Junior Honor Society. They are often looked upon to provide a variety of service opportunities to their school.
As an elite group of middle school students, they sometimes need a break.
They need to socialize appropriately with their peers, and playing games once in a while will help. Students know technology all too well and sometimes forget how to have good old fashioned fun. These games will help foster these skills in these young students and give them a chance to wind down during their long school day.
