This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These basic yet essential science school supplies will help my middle school students be successful in and outside of our science class! These supplies such as pencils, lead refills, pencil sharpeners, and rulers will allow students to develop critical thinking skills that are needed to be successful in learning hands on science concepts and skills. These supplies will help my students develop solutions to engineering challenges presented to them.

Many of my students do not own their own water bottle and we do not have a working drinking faucet in our classroom, the Brita water filter and environmentally friendly paper cups will provide students with the opportunity to stay healthy and hydrated and will help to prevent many headaches that are caused by dehydration.

These middle school science students will also apply the engineering design process and build models using the magnetic building sticks. Students will display their designs in each of their own pocket folders, which will also provide a place for each student to store their science assignments and build their organizational skills. My middle school science students will work in teams using these basic school supplies like lead pencils, pencil sharpeners, and rulers to build meaningful friendships and learn to communicate positively with each other by exchanging ideas to help solve real life challenges.
